MENOPAUSE symptoms, including hair loss, can be upsetting for women who are going through the change. One brand is offering a shampoo treatment they claim can help.

Hair loss in women can occur in later stages of life, and is often associated with the menopause.

The NHS claims hair loss: “tends to be more noticeable in women who have been through the menopause (when a woman's periods stop at around age 52), perhaps because they have fewer female hormones.”

The symptom that women are entering their later years was included in an NHS Foudnation Trust report that said “hair may thin and dry” during the change.

Women’s Health Concern add that while women do not tend to lose all of their hair - like men can - their hair may still thin drastically during the menopause.

The said: “The average age of the menopause is around fifty and in the months or years leading up to this, some women notice a change in hair pattern.

“Very commonly, the volume and condition of the hair appears to worsen, with some women noticing that hair does not grow as much as previously.

“More hair seems to come out in the basin when washing and hair brushes soon fill up as loose hairs are brushed away.”

However, the loss can be more profound for some women for others.

Hair loss causes considerable heartache for women, who often consider their hair to be their crowning glory.

“The despair felt by women from thinning hair is underestimated and often ignored,” says the UK coordinator of French hair care brand Lazartigue, Erica McCready.

The brand also claims that “in most cases, a 40-year-old woman has experienced a 20 per cent decrease of her hair volume.”

So how can women turn back the tide when it comes to thinning hair?

Lazartigue believe the specific mix of vitamins, AHA’s, hyaluronic acid, collagen, plant placenta and keratin in their products can help women with thinning hair.

They claim women using their products for the three month treatment time will see regrowth.

Their Stymulactine 21 serum “encourages a vigorous growth of weak and anaemic hair”, they claim, due to the silanols, amino-acids and marine agents that ‘feed’ the roots with vitamins and minerals.

The Intensive scalp revitalizer is recommended for new mothers who have suffered associated hair loss. as to contains plant placenta, a powerful regenerator which stimulates hair growth.

The NHS also recommend a proven treatment for female-pattern baldness in minoxidil.

“After using it, most women see improvements, including a slowing or stopping altogether of balding, as well as thicker hair. Up to 25% of women experience hair regrowth while using it,” they claim.
