Natural Cures For Baldness – Hair Loss

In one’s lifetime it is normal to lose about 100 hairs per day, but under normal conditions these hairs grow back. When you start to experience more loss than that, then thinning of the hair begins and does not stop unless you do something about it.

Derived from the bark of an evergreen, it works in a similar way to green tea. It is widely used to treat prostate problems and male pattern baldness. Users should take 60-500mg per day in pill or capsule form.

Excessive exposure to the sun can damage the hair. Keep hair covered with a hat or bandanna when in the sun for long periods of time. Shampoos that are high in chemicals and artificial ingredients can cause your hair to dry out and break; consider a natural shampoo from a health food store.

Massaging the scalp with oil helps in three ways. It increases blood flow to the scalp and provides the hair roots with oxygen. It moisturizes the hair and roots. It unclogs the pores and eliminates toxins. These things are beneficial to combat hair loss. Use just a tablespoon of olive oil, lavender oil, coconut oil, almond oil, burdock oil, basil oil or rosemary oil to massage the scalp and hair for 5 to 10 minutes. For the best results, do this on wet hair after the apple vinegar rinse.

According to University of Maryland Medical Center, massaging the scalp with essential oils could help promote hair growth. One study observed 86 people with hair loss problems and found that people who massaged the scalp with essential oils daily for 7 months experienced more hair re-growth. Some essential oils that could help treat hair loss include lavender, rosemary and almond. Some people also add licorice, danshen or sage to shampoo to prevent hair loss and maintain hair color. Make use of Saw Palmetto oil extract- The fruit of saw palmetto is used for various purposes. It is said to be one of the excellent herb for the treatment of hair loss. Its usage is also very simple. Take out the oil extract of this herb and massage it gently on the scalp. Leave the hairs with the oil extract for overnight and rinse the hairs with warm water in the morning. Use this therapy twice a week for 4-5 months.

Gotu Kola has a history dating back centuries in Chinese herbalist literature as one of the herbal remedies for hair loss. Those claims have been backed up by research done on rats suffering from alopecia (hair loss) who, when fed Gotu Kola for an extended period, grew both thicker skin and hair, and had the rate of their hair growth increase. Because the skin naturally thins both as we age, and with the appearance of male pattern baldness, Gotu Kola may be one of the herbal hair loss remedies with added benefits.

One home remedy is to combine 1/2 tsp. rosemary essential oil and 1/2 tsp. jojoba oil, blending until smooth. Apply this to the hair, leave it in for a few hours, then rinse off. Another topical remedy from combines 1 cup aloe vera gel, 4 tbsp. apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp. nettle root, 1/2 tsp. vitamin E oil and 1/2 tsp. rosemary oil, to be applied topically once a day.
